Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve put together answers to the questions we get asked most often. If there's something we haven't covered, please shoot us an email.
Do I need to have my photos ready to sign up?
No! You don't need to have your photos ready to place an order.
When you sign up, we’ll let you know the photo submission deadline date. It’s fine to postpone until the following month if you need more time.
What’s a reasonable number of photos to send?
You can send us a maximum of 500 photos to curate, but you can send fewer than this. You can even send us the final 20 if you know what you want.
If you have more than 500, we’d recommend narrowing the subject down. For example, instead of four years of adventures, choose one.
How do I transfer my photos?
As soon as you place your order we send you an email with a link to a unique web page where you can upload your photos directly. It works seamlessly on your laptop, or smart phone. We support all devices, Windows, Mac, iPhone or Android.
What have other people used 20 Photos for?
Some stories we’ve created in the past are:
Family life with an expanding family
Exploring the Scottish Highlands with friends
A honeymoon in Vietnam
A 6 month sabbatical
Celebrating a loved one’s life
Stills for pitching a film to investors
Hopefully this will give you some inspiration, but you can literally do anything!
It’s a topic only you can choose. Have fun with it, you can’t get it wrong.
But all my photos are on my phone!
Great - that’s perfect for us! If they’re in lots of different places, you can still do it, you’d just need to gather them together. We can guide you on how to do this.
Can I collaborate with friends and family?
Yes! Every order gets a unique web page where you can upload photos. You can email or text this link to people, making it really easy for you all to collaborate and add your own photos.
This is great for photos of a wedding / a trip / holiday / a child …. just life generally!
Can you do all 30,000 of mine?
We get asked this a lot! We know it’s a problem many of us have.
The product is 20 photos, so if you send us years of momentous photos it’ll be tricky to bring it down without feeling like you’re losing some key moments.
If you narrow your topic or timeframe, your collection is more likely to be gratifyingly representative.
It’s best to choose something more specific to document (your last six months?) than to do nothing and let them all build up.

What are the ownership rights once edited?
You own your photos, Jo edits them. They always remain yours.
We feel very proud of the 20 Photos outcomes and we’d love to share some of your images on our social media and online marketing, with your consent. We will always ask you for permission to share your images and, if you are comfortable with it, you can give varying levels of permission.
There is absolutely no pressure or expectation for you to give your permission!
What size will the prints be?
20 small prints are 12cm x 8cm (plus a small border) which hold nicely in your hand – neither too big or too small and enough detail too. They come in a box with a spine so you can store them on your bookshelves.
The large collage print of all of your 20 photos is A2 (56 x 37cm printed)
The big, solo print comes ready to frame, or you can purchase a frame from us and we’ll do it all for you.
